Wild praises Town win in tough conditions at Yeovil
TOWN MANAGER Pete Wild praised his side’s excellent display in tough conditions after The Shaymen’s 3-0 win at Yeovil.
Goals from Luke Summerfield, Kieran Green and Jake Hyde sealed an impressive win for Town.
“I thought we were excellent first-half, against the wind,” said Wild. “I thought we nullified their threats, we knew their two wide men would cause us a lot of threats and we nullified that. Second-half, we thought with the wind we’d have more of the ball, and we didn’t. Both teams played better against the wind. They had a really good spell second-half, two great saves by the keeper. We knew as the game went on that they’d have to take more risks, which they did, and we finished them off.
“We had a 20 minute period where we rode our luck but apart from that, I’m really pleased with what we’ve done.”
Town got their noses in-front when Summerfield swept in a penalty after Billy Chadwick was tripped in the box.
Reuben Reid nearly equalised a couple of minutes after halftime, but his shot struck the inside of the post and bounced back to Sam Johnson.
Tom Knowles then curled a free-kick just wide of the opposite post, before his next freekick was brilliantly tipped behind by Johnson.
Moments after Yeovil had a penalty appeal rejected for a foul on Reid by Niall Maher, Summerfield’s shot was parried and Green bundled in the rebound to seal the win.
Substitute Hyde added the gloss in stoppage-time when he raced onto a loose header from a Yeovil defender and coolly slotted under the keeper.
