Bonnie’s walks for charity

- Tom Scargill

A NINE-YEAR-OLD girl from Halifax will be walking 20 miles throughout September to help raise money and awareness for Alopecia UK.

Bonnie Pullan is a champion for the charity, whose awareness month is currently taking place, and will also have the help of ten of her friends in her fundraising efforts.

At the end of September they will all meet to walk a lap of Skircoat Green moor, near Crossleys School.

Bonnie lives in Skircoat Green, and attends All Saints School.

At the age of seven she developed some bald patches in her hair and was diagnosed with alopecia areata.

Now two years later, Bonnie has lost all her hair on her body, which is called alopecia universalis.

“I’m so proud of my daughter,” said her mum Wendy. “She lets nothing hold her back. She embraces life and actually loves being bald, she tells me it’s better because she doesn’t have to wash her hair.

“I’m so so proud of her bravery.”

Bonnie continues to spread awareness of alopecia to others as she feels the more people know about it, the less people will stare or point.

She supports the charity Alopecia UK because of the support they offer to people with the condition, such as trips away to places like Alton Towers, and Zoom meetings for children to have fun and meet each other.

Bonnie had an online meeting with Alopecia UK and comedian Matt Lucas, who she got to interview.
