Captain’s Column

-

I THOUGHT first-half at Yeovil, we weren’t to our high standards that we’ve set out to achieve on a daily basis.

Maybe we just got wrong tactically, but there were no excuses from us, we weren’t good enough and we all demand a lot more out of one another.

I think it was just one of those first-halves you have in a season, but we know that’s not us. It doesn’t help when you get a suckerpunch of a penalty, which we don’t believe was one. I touched the ball, he’s ended up coming though and I feel like there’s minimal contact to send him forward and the ball’s gone the opposite way.

They’re decisions that are there to be made but I think it was the wrong one.

But we had enough time in the game to go and grab something.

Second-half we put that right and we had enough chances to go and grab something out of the game.

I think a point would have been a fair result. First-half we weren’t at our usual high standards, which is disappointing, but I thought we were the better team second-half, we were dominant, we had a lot of the ball.

We just need to start taking our chances. We’ve played well in every game, we’ve had a lot of chances.

Ideally we’d have come away with four wins but in a season of 44 games, there’s a lot of chances to rectify results and put performances right, which we’ve got coming up against some good teams. There’s a lot of positives. We’re still not 100 per cent perfect, which we’re working on, but I feel like we’ve deserved to pick up something in every game.

They’re three big teams we’ve got coming up, who you’d think would be up there come the end of the season, but so should we.

It’s a chance to showcase ourselves against them, show what we’re good at and go and get some points.

We’re just concentrating on us and Southend, they’re our main priority. Hopefully we get a good week on the training ground under our belt, work on our strengths and what we can work on.
