scheduled to miss out on deeper water, diving pool and spectator facilities - will affect the many. It’s not only the club swimmer who will miss out on deeper water, it’s any young person building his/her confidence in that depth in a safe, supervised environment.
It’s not only the racers’ parents who will miss out on spectator facilities, it’s the proud parents watching their child improve at all levels.
I hope this clarifies matters, but much more importantly let’s hope and lobby for the council to reconsider their decision on what they intend to leave out of the new complex.
Yet it is reasonable to assume that residents purchased their roadside properties in the age of the motorcar, therefore it cannot be entirely unexpected that they have to contend with traffic, as annoying as this must be.
It also appears that these owner-occupiers of prime period properties would have no qualms about traffic being diverted away from Jumples Crag and via predominantly social housing communities instead, who, perhaps being less politically and media savvy than these campaigners, are less likely to kick up a fuss.
The council has already invested tax-payers’ money into installing pinch points on Jumples Crag. It is to be hoped that the council does not give in to the demand to make this important amenity access only to pacify a small but vocal campaign which does not represent the views of the silent majority in the area.
