HALIFAX HOCKEY Club’s men’s teams had a weekend to remember, chalking-up four league wins.

The firsts out-played Rhamgharia in a thumping 5-0 win, in which Michael Jones (2), John Horsley, Dave Wheatley and Connor Sutcliffe scored.

The seconds saw-off a strong Harrogate outfit 4-1 with Jake Waddington (2), Peter Howard and Rhys Hancock on target.

Another convincing win came from the thirds, who dominated a skilful Wakefield team in a 5-1 triumph.

Ryan Dransfield, Luke Pearson and Mike Brennan caused Wakefield all sorts of problems while 15-year-olds Alistair Cooke and Jacob Maclean continue to improve. Youngster Euan Hancock was equally impressive when introduced from the bench. Goals came from James Auty (2), Ryan Dransfield, Sam Peters and Pearson.

Luke Greenwood made his return for the fourths and scored the winner as his team won 2-1. Steve Sparks opened the scoring only for Slaz to level but Greenwood secured all three points.

Halifax had two U12s girls teams in action on Sunday.

Team two were at Ben Rhydding where they played out two goalless draws with Sheffield, drew 0-0 and lost 1-0 to Selby and celebrated two 1-0 wins over Slazengers.

Goals were scored by Isla Flesher Smith and Rea Vaquari.

Team one were at Leeds Grammar and recorded wins over Leeds (1-0), Hull (2-0) and Huddersfield (3-0). They were unlucky to lose 1-0 to York and drew 0-0 with Doncaster.

Lucy Hampshire scored five goals and Martha Mackrill added the other.

The U14s boys travelled to Sheffield where they beat the hosts 4-2 and Huddersfield 4-1. Goals were scored by Amos Mackrill (3), Bhavan Sandhu (2), Alex Gillgrass (2) and Elliot Rudkin.

Noah Waite showed potential in his first games as did youngsters Gillgrass and Rudkin.

The U14s girls also had an excellent start to the season, winning 5-1 at Leeds Adel, courtesy of goals from Ava Eastwood (2), Lizzy Gillgrass, Eva Brady and Phoebe Gledhill.
