Several blockbusters arrive on the big screen at Vue in Halifax this week.

Among those is Dune, which opens today (Thursday, October 21).

Duke Leto Atreides has been tasked with leaving his ocean planet, Caladan, and travelling to the treacherous desert planet of Arrakis – otherwise known as Dune.

His mission? Get his hands on the universe’s most precious commodity - a spice that can unlock exceptional power.

This seems a lot like a trap set by the Harkonnens but Leto decides to go anyway, taking his Bene Gesserit concubine, Lady Jessica. and their son, Paul, with him.

All the while, Paul has been having strange dreams that make those around him believe he has an all-important fate.

When the Atreides are betrayed, Lady Jessica and Paul turn to Dune’s native people, the Fremen, for help.

With war erupting all around them over the spice, Paul believes he could realise the destiny foretold in his dreams.

The generation-defining Broadway phenomenon Dear Evan Hansen becomes a cinematic event as Tony, Grammy and Emmy Award winner Ben

Platt reprises his role as an anxious, isolated high schooler aching for understanding and belonging amid the chaos and cruelty of the social media age.

It is released at Vue on Friday, October 22.

Also new this week is The Boss Baby 2: Family Business.

All grown up, Tim Templeton is now a stay-at-home dad to his two adorable daughters. Meanwhile, his estranged brother Ted is a big-shot CEO.

The pair have grown apart over the years, with Ted focusing all of his time and energy on work.

The brothers soon find themselves working together again when an evil genius threatens to turn the toddlers of the world into uncontrollable terrors.

Thanks to a magic formula, Tim and Ted are turned back into babies for just 48 hours, allowing them to go deep undercover.

But foiling a dastardly plan is a lot harder when you need a booster seat and regular nappy changes.

And there is still chance to see the latest Bond film, No Time To Die, with several screenings each day.
