Crocs demolish Leos while Kelly kicks Rishies to glory
YORKSHIRE ONE table toppers Old Crossleyans made it eight wins from their opening eight games of the season with a 72-0 demolition of Leodiensians.
The hosts racked-up an 11 try haul that included a hat-trick for Billy Hammond.
Matty Beswick started the ball rolling with the first, Joe Gallagher converting, and Crocs went on to lead 34-0 at the break with touch-downs from Joe Stott, Josh Hunt and Rob Oliver complementing a penalty try and a penalty.
The one-way traffic continued on the resumption with Hunt grabbing his second and George Ackroyd going over before Hammond completing his quick-fire try triple.
Crocs rounded the day off when through Matthew Beswick’s turn of pace was too much for the Leos defence to score from 30 metres out.
Rishworthians moved up to fifth spot with a 15-9 home win over Bridlington in an entertaining game.
There were no tries and it became a battle between the goal kickers; the hosts’ Josh Kelly and Brid’s Josh Stanyon.
Both men converted two kicks in the first half but Kelly took his three opportunities after the break to give his side the edge.
Rishworthians coach Richard Brown was delighted with the team’s defensive qualities and Ethan Pollard was named man of the match.
Rishies’ Development Team lost 19-14 to a strong Old Brodleians second team.
Old Crossleyans’ second team returned to league duties at Leodiensian and secured all five points with an excellent 38-0 success.
Debutants Tom Seale, Josh Brown, and Noah Tyson all performed admirably in helping Crocs register their seventh win of the season and the scoring was led by Joe Hall who completed an eye-catching hattrick.
Olly Waite and Jack Lumb added to the try count while Brad Clarkson had his kicking boots on to grab all five conversions and a penalty.
