Northern Lights faced Illingworth (Marion Quick, Allan Cowburn, Stewart Baker, David Laycock) and a supreme effort by the Illingworth squad saw them run out 12-9 winners.

The new leaders of the division are Black Cats (Andy Balmforth, Brian Winrow, Ian Smith, Paul Gill) who beat Knockkelly Stars (K Bennett, B Girt, W Burnett, Derek Squires) 16-7.

The game of the week in the Saturday Pairs saw the top two teams, Marbles (Helen and Ian Smith) and Red Woods (Mick Rowntree, Marian Firth) go head-tohead in what proved to be a very close encounter.

Marbles, with superb bowling quickly moved into a 7-1 lead, before Red Woods began their fightback and went 14-11 up with one end to play.

On the last end, Marbles could only score a two as Red Woods ran out 14-13 winners.

Newcomers to the league Pennine VI (Bob, June Holroyd) registered their first win on the Halifax rinks when they saw-off Sunny Days (Eddie and Tom Gilbert) 9-5.
