Local council should run it

- CL Cheetham, Brighouse

I can honestly say it is embarrassing to read what comes out of Craig Whittaker’s mouth.

He talks about rubbish, literally and slags the Labour council off firstly for the late collection of our bins and then goes on to slag them off for going someway to solving the problem by giving the drivers of the bin lorries a pay rise.

If the council had not have done this there would still be problems with the the collections. Suez, the private company that are responsible for waste disposal would not give drivers a wage increase.

The Tory government forced councils to outsource to private companies because they do not want local councils to run there own departments and are hell bent on privatising everything under the sun.

Public ownership is a far better option for councils but alas the Tories want to line the pockets of their mates.

Craig Whittaker’s government has cut Calderdale

Councils budget by over £100m but will blame anyone and their dog for the problems the council face, indeed the government blame the last Labour government for all the ills of the country, a Labour government that ended 11 years ago, oh the irony, the lies and deceit, what a bunch of hypocrites these Tories are.

I would like to remind Craig that there have been at least three named storms over the past few months, storms do tend to blow ferociously and no matter what the council does it cannot be blamed for the weather, unless you are a Tory MP that is.

There is a solution, if our MP lobbied in Parliament for waste disposal to be taken over by the council and put an end to private companies making a profit from Calderdale residents council tax payments it should make things better by a mile. I will not hold my breath on that one, Craig Whittaker and the government will always line their own pockets and their rich and powerful mates pockets, Russian oligarch’s included and will continue to accept dodgy money from whoever gives it to them for they have no shame.

I had to smile after I had read the headline ‘Council needs to get a grip of rubbish services’ CRAIG LORD
