Fashions in the Time of Anne Lister (1791-1840)
Bankfield Museum, Halifax, from Mach 25 to October 29
Bankfield Museum in Halifax is opening a new exhibition exploring the different styles of fashion during the lifetime of the town’s famous resident, Anne Lister. ‘Fashion in Anne Lister’s Time (1791-1840)’, will explore the many different styles of fashion during Anne’s lifetime and demonstrate just how her own unique style contrasted with what women of that time were expected to wear. A selection of fascinating 1830s dresses and accessories from Bankfield Museum’s world class collection of costumes and textiles will be on display, along with many items loaned from museums across the country. There will also be a world exclusive exhibition of costumes used in the filming of the second series of the BBC TV drama, Gentleman Jack. Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal
Wadsworth Community Centre, March 26, 7.30pm
On Saturday, March 26, l rhythm and blues band The 844s will be performing at Wadsworth Community Centre for a Ukraine fundraiser.
The 844s are vocalist and harmonica player Dave
Rigg, lead guitarist Martin McGroarty, bassist Jerome Dineen, drummer Jim
Duffy, and rhythm guitarist and second vocalist Wally Woodcock. The band plays original compositions with one or two covers, ranging from slow-burn blues to high-energy rock.
Food and cask ales will be available, and the band’s new CD – “On The Top Floor” - will be available for sale. There will be a raffle, a collection bucket and all proceeds from the event will go to the D.E.C. Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal. Attendance will be limited to 100. Dara O’ Briain: So…Where Were We?

Comedian Dara Ó Briain is coming to Halifax on March 25. In his new show ‘So, Where Were We?” Dara will hardly mention the last year and a half, because who wants to hear about that, but will instead fire out the usual mix of stories, one-liners, audience messing, and tripping over his words because he is talking too quickly, because he’s so giddy to be back in front of a crowd. www.victoriatheatre.co.uk

Fiddler on the Roof

The All Souls’ Amateur Dramatic Society is all set to perform Fiddler of the Roof at Halifax Playhouse next week. The celebrated and much loved musical is packed with show-stopping songs including the hits ‘If I Were A Rich Man’, ‘Tradition’ and ‘Matchmaker’.
