CALDERDALE IS set to have a spectacular Spring and Summer jam packed with events after a two-year break due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

From galas to vintage weekends there’s so much on offer across the borough.

A huge event in the Calderdale calendar is Halifax Gala, which is set to return this Summer.

Following a two-year hiatus because of the pandemic, the popular fundraising event will return on Saturday, June 11.

A grand procession of charity floats will leave the car park of Eureka! at 11.30am and make its way through the town centre to Manor Heath Park for fun, games and stalls.

Organisers expect the 2022 Halifax Gala to be bigger and better than ever.

Treasurer Gary Kettle said: “This year’s Gala will be better than ever, with a focus on showcasing Calderdale, but we’ve all crossed our fingers for great weather and seeing lots of visitors through the gates so we can continue support the not-forprofit organisations who help the people of the borough for many years to come.”

After a two year break due to the pandemic the Rotary Club of Hebden Bridge are relaunching the Hebden Bridge Vintage Weekend with all the usual sights, sounds and fun. This year’s event will take place over the weekend of August 6 and 7 at Calder Holmes Park in the centre of Hebden Bridge.

Stuart Bradshaw, this years’ organiser of HBVW, said: “As usual there will be lots of stunning classic and vintage vehicles spanning over 100 years of motoring plus family entertainment, live music and refreshments, with mostly different vehicles to see each day, more classic on the Saturday and vintage on the Sunday.

“Apart from the last two years due to the pandemic, the Vintage Weekend car rally has been held every year since 1982; the Rotary Club of Hebden Bridge has run the event since 2006 and it is the clubs main fund raiser; attracting thousands of visitors who come to admire the vehicles on show and to visit the town of Hebden Bridge, many who have never been to the town before.”

A section of Calder Holmes Park will be set aside for food outlets, a kids play area with traditional fairground activities and a picnic area to relax in.

There will be a number of stalls at the event, with some stalls selling Steampunk related paraphernalia to coincide with the Steampunk Weekend also being held in Hebden Bridge on the same weekend.

There will also be music on both days.

descend on Brighouse for the town’s 1940s weekend.

The event sees Brighouse step in time with historical displays, people dressed in 1940s outfits. vintage fairground rides, a miniature steam train and much more.

After its forced two year break organisers are thrilled for the return for the 1940s weekend, and other events, to the town.

Helen Holdsworth, project manager at the Brighouse BID, said: “We’re delighted that we can restart the events once again here in Brighouse.

“As a town, Brighouse has gained a reputation for running fun, engaging events and markets which have gained a tremendous following and reputation over the years.

“We’ve had a fantastic response from businesses and local people in the town to the announcements – so we really think our 2022 events will be bigger and better than ever!”
