Calder Valley Fell Runners were represented by no fewer than nine teams in the popular Lee Mill Relays event.

The club’s 36 runners were divided into teams of four and a total of 79 teams took on the 10.4k course, that covers varied terrain of fell, quarries and treacherous ascents and descents.

The event has been a winter fixture for eight years and the flagged course comprises energy-sapping bogs that can make the going very difficult for those taking part.

Toni Bradley’s Bog Barracudas took top position in both the Calder Valley club results and the mixed team category.

Making up the team were Jodie Adamson, Luke Maleschko (who has been on the winning team three times in a row) and Jonny Croston.

Second back for the club and claiming first place in the MV40 team category, captain Marc Collett’s Pinny Dodgers proved to be a solid group made up of Giles Simon, James Cooke and James Logue.

Bob’s Mile Munchers showed similarly impressive form and came third for CVFR with the help of Max Wilkinson, Oil Beaumont and Bill Johnson.

The club also took the first four places in the mixed teams category with the assistance of Ailsa Nicholson’s

All Stars, Kings For The Win, captained by Emily King, and Johnnie Watson’s Warriors. The teams took second, third and fourth places respectively.

Fishers Fearless Four’s Dom Camponi had an excellent second leg run but his captain Simon Fisher missed the changeover.

There were fine runs from

Barmy Army team members Gavin Mulholland, Ambi Swindells, Natasha Butterfield and an exceptionally speedy time of 46:44 from Martin Howard but they were awarded a di d not finish (DNF) due to captain Andy Smith being unable to complete his leg due to injury.

Elsewhere,Valley’sGeorge Kirk was one of the runners who took part in the Bingley Harriers v Cyclists race.

The route of 5.3 miles includes 945 feet of climb over surrounding moorland and a field of 62 cyclists and 185 runners went head to head in the frantic race.

Despite colliding with a rider, Kirk secured a solid position, finishing in 137th place.
