No offers for injured Alli, says Town boss

-

Halifax boss Chris Millington says there have been no offers for forward Milli Alli after his absence from the squad on New Year’s Day due to injury, writes Tom Scargill.

Alli missed the 0-0 draw with Altrincham due to a knee problem, but his absence will have been a concern to Town fans who fear he will be the subject of interest from the Football League now the January transfer window is open.

"He's got a knee problem, we've got to investigate it with a scan, we're not exactly sure,” Millington told the Courier.

"It sounds like something innocuous that's happened away from the club, so we're not exactly clear on how it's happened or the damage it's caused. Hopefully we'll know a bit more (after the scan).”

On whether there had been any interest in Alli, Millington said: "There's certainly been no offers so far and we certainly wouldn't be selling an injured player anyway, so he'll have to get himself fit and back on the pitch before we'd even consider moving a player on."

Ryan Galvin and Max Wright also missed Monday’s game with hamstring and ankle issues respectively and are doubts for Saturday’s trip to Southend, while it is unclear whether Alli will be involved.

Midfielder Luke Summerfield isn’t expected to be fit for this weekend but is said to be progressing well in his recovery from a calf injury.

Millington is expecting a tough afternoon at Southend, who would be just outside the play-offs were it not for their points deduction.

"I see a lot of similarities in terms of work-rate, organisation, neversay-die attitude,” said the Town boss.

"Even when they get beat, they're always in games. There's not much between us were in not for their points deduction, we're very close in terms of everything - style of play, the way we approach games.

"Really looking forward to the challenge. We're going to need to outwork them, we're going to need to be highly organised when they have the ball and then we're going to need to be incredibly quick and effective in breaking lines when we regain it to get up the pitch effectively and create scoring opportunities."
