Hard work takes to premier level

- Kirsten Mcstay

Talented Casey Paterson is all set to compete in the World Highland Dancing Championships.

Twelve-year-old Casey has been going to the Nicola Boyle School of Highland Dancing in Hamilton for four years.

She attends classes at Eddlewood Bowling Club on Monday and Thursday nights and after only six months at the class she entered her first competition as a beginner.

Last year Casey moved up to premier level and has worked very hard to reach one of her goals of winning her pre-championships.

The dedicated dancer travelled with her teacher to the Paisley championships, where she was runner-up, and then two weeks later to Aberdeen, where she won the pre-championships.

Her dance teacher Nicola is extremely proud of everything she has achieved.

She said: “Casey is a very hardworking and dedicated pupil at the school and I am very proud of her achievements.

“Now that she is working even harder, she is hoping to reach her next goal of a championship point.”

Casey who is in first year at Our Lady’s High School in Motherwell, is very excited to be up dancing beside the champions and hopes her hard work will help her reach her next goal.

Family and friends are extremely proud of Casey’s pre-champ win at Aberdeen.

Casey will compete in the Scottish Championships in Dunoon on August 25 and then at the World Championships, also Dunoon, on August 26.
