Tributes flood in for such a brave lady

- Kirsten Mcstay

As the news of Kate Bowman’s passing spread, tributes poured in across social media sites this week.

Ailsa Woodley said:“i am devastated to hear that Kate is no longer with us. She was such an inspiration to me and clearly to many others also.

“I’ll never forget how much in awe I was when I first met her near the beginning of my treatment. She showed me you could get on with life even with a cancer diagnosis.

“I wish I could tell her how much strength she gave me through her kindness, positivity and support. I feel so honoured to have met such an amazing girl.

“My thoughts and prayers are with your family and many friends. I’ll never forget you, rest in peace.”

Andy Boslem said:“the world lost an absolute gem at the weekend. An absolute fighter — a determined, thoughtful and kind young woman. She did so much to raise awareness of cancer, especially with young women, and supported others who were suffering, too.

“It was a real pleasure to know you, never a dull moment and many a laugh shared. I just hope your fights have not been in vain and many young women can take inspiration.”

Melissa Moore paid tribute to her friend.

She said:“completely heartbroken to have lost such a beautiful and amazing friend. Kate Bowman you were the strongest, most courageous, inspiring, funniest girl I have ever known and I’m so, so proud of you getting your law degree just a few days ago, unbelievable!”

Another friend, Derek Macpherson, praised her for her hard work towards her degree.

He said:“absolutely gobsmacked to hear the news of Kate Bowman. The battling you did over the past two years with cancer was truly incredible.

“Kate, what a wee fighter you were with everything you went through over the years and still kept smiling.

“The last we spoke you were knee-deep in uni work only a few weeks ago, so glad to hear your hard work paid off and you got that degree. Heaven has gained a princess and I hope you don’t decorate the place in pink to much. You will be deeply missed.”

Tributes continued to appear online admiring Kate for all her hard work.

Megan Jones said:“so sad to hear the horrible news that one of my childhood school friends, Kate Bowman, has passed away. Totally gutted. Super strong girl, such an inspiration.”
