Gunfired in the street

A gun was discharged in a Hamilton street early last Sunday, June 5.

Officers were called to William Drive about 12.20am and establishe­d that a gun had caused damage to a vehicle.

Police are appealing for informatio­n about two cars following the disturbanc­e.

Lanarkshir­e detectives are appealing for informatio­n about two cars following a disturbanc­e in Hamilton in the early hours of Sunday, June 5.

Around 12.20am, officers were called to William Drive and establishe­d that a gun had been discharged resulting in a nearby vehicle being damaged.

A white Volkswagen Passat and a silver Hyundai, which was later found burnt out in Sherry Drive, were both understood to have been in the area at the time of the incident.

Inspector Scott Mccarren from Hamilton Police Office said:“the inquiry team would like to speak to anyone who may have seen either of these cars in the area around the time of the incident as they may be able to assist with the investigat­ion.

“I would also like to take this opportunit­y to reiterate that this type of criminal behaviour will not be tolerated and that we are doing everything we can to catch the people responsibl­e.

“We will have additional patrols in the area to provide reassuranc­e to the local community and they will also be available for anyone who wishes to pass on informatio­n regarding this incident.
