Blantyre flats plan is given green light
Plans to build 18 new flats in Blantyre were this week given the green light by South Lanarkshire Council officials.
Clyde Valley Housing Association, along with Wilson Developments (Scotland) Ltd, submitted the planning application for the erection of 18 one- and two-bedroom flatted dwellings with associated car parking and landscaping at an area of previously developed land located off the town’s Stonefield Road.
Statutory neighbour notification procedures were carried out, as well as consultations with Roads and Transportation Services, Scottish Water, Housing Services and Environmental Services but no letters of representation were received.
In a Planning Committee report, Michael Mcglynn, executive director (community and enterprise resources) said: “In this instance, the application involves the re-use of a previously developed site for housing and the application site would be easily accessible by public transport and well integrated into existing walking and cycling networks.
“In terms of local plan policy, the application site is designated for residential use in the adopted South Lanarkshire Local Development Plan where it is identified as part of the 2014 Housing Land Supply.
“In summary, it is considered that the application conforms with both national and local plan policy and the proposal raises no significant environmental of infrastructure issues.
I would, therefore, raise no objection to the application and recommend that planning permission be granted subject to the conditions.”
