A mum’s anguish turned to relief this week when her missing son turned up safe and well.

Charlotte Skimming from Eddlewood had issued an emotional appeal after her son Jordan Verdi did not show at the family home for four days.

She even organised a search party to hunt for the missing teen.

Missing Hamilton teenager Jordan Verdi was found safe and well this week following an emotional appeal from his mother.

Charlotte Skimming spoke on the Hamilton Advertiser’s website about her anguish as the 17-year-old’s last words before he went missing on Friday, June 24, were ‘See you later, love mum’.

She organised a community search party on Tuesday at 5.30pm, and about 40 people combed the Eddlewood area of the town to try to reunite him with his family.

However, the family say he was found around 9pm that day.

A relieved Charlotte (46) said: “He was unhurt and is safe.

“I just want to thank everyone from the bottom of my heart for all the support and love they have shown my family in the search for Jordan.

“It has been the worst few days of my life but he is back and that’s what counts. Thank you.”

She added: “I would like to thank everyone for all their support and I won’t ever forget it. This has been the worst time of my life, but now relieved.”

Friends and family flooded Facebook with comments after news broke that the teenager had been found.

Elizabeth Mcghee said: “Brilliant news, I’m glad for you and your family.”

Maureen Mckendrick added: “So relieved for you!”

James Mullen told the relieved mum: “So relieved for you Charlotte. I was following the story and was getting very afraid for you and the family. I am elated that you have good news, so many other stories end in tragedy. You take care.”

Caitlin Harper said: “Now you can put your head to rest knowing he is safe and sound.”

Elaine Hamilton Mcmaster added: “Anything that’s up can be dealt with now you have found him, so happy for you.”

Angie Kennedy told Charlotte: “You don’t need to thank anyone, just get yourself some rest.”

And Paula Carrigan said: “You done the right thing with the search.”

Lanarkshire Police Division released a statement, saying: “Jordan has now been traced safe and well.

“Police Scotland would like to think everyone who shared the post and for those that contacted Hamilton Police with information.”
