This time of year sees the traditional break-up of the schools for the summer.
This will result in an increase in young people in and around our community possibly later at night with increased frequency during the week.
On our roads this presents an increased danger for both motorists and pedestrians as kids tend to dart in an out on traffic, more intent on the games they are playing than vehicular traffic. This coupled with low sun glare at night or some good old Scottish wet weather means that motorists and pedestrians alike have to be more vigilant of the driving conditions and hopefully prevent accident or injury on our roads.
We will also see an increase in young people using the recreational facilities in our community, park and other similar open spaces. Again with this increase I would urge tolerance and a balanced appreciation of impact when using these facilities. Police Scotland actively encourages everyone in our community to use recreational areas in the manner they were designed or intended and not be dissuaded due to low tolerance of exuberance. However this should not be mistaken for outright anti-social behaviour.
Police Scotland and my staff will happily engage with any member of our community however we will not tolerate anti-social or disruptive behaviour which negatively impacts on others.
If you are aware of such behaviour please contact Police Scotland using the 101 service and report it. We will attend as soon as practically possible utilising all legislative means at our
