Wedding video goes viral

Unusual last dance

- Kirsten Mcstay

A video of a Bellshill couple who had the GBX remix of ‘Bits n’ Pieces’ as their last dance song has gone viral.

Newly-weds Emma and Johncharles Hutchison tied the knot at the Radstone Hotel on Saturday, June 18, and decided that they wanted to ditch wedding traditions and include something that their guests would never forget.

Bride Emma said that they wanted to end the night with something that would get everyone up on their feet.

She explained: “We chose the song for the last dance because we wanted something different.

“Weddings are emotional anyway so we didn’t want the last dance to be sad.

“We wanted it to be remembered by all of our guests and it’s our favourite song, so it made sense to do it.”

The couple, who have been together for seven years, kept their song choice under wraps and even had their band start off playing something else to add to the surprise.

Emma added: “We told the band to start playing a traditional song and then suddenly play ‘Bits n Pieces’ so no-one was expecting it.

“They thought it was going to be a song from Runrig.

“It turned out to be a huge hit with everyone, after all, it’s a song that everyone loves to dance to.”

The video has since had over 250,000 views online and the new Mr and Mrs Hutchison can’t quite believe the response it has received.

Emma said: “Never for a second did we think it would go viral. “We still can’t believe it!” The video has been shared almost 6000 times on the Hamilton Advertiser’s website, and you can go online to hamiltonadvertiser. co.uk to check it out.
