Fashion show backs Mary’s Meals
Holy Cross High School in Hamilton recently held a spectacular fashion show in aid of Scottish charity Mary’s Meals.
Organised by physics teacher Bernie Gribbon and maths teacher Angela Duffy the show, which raised over £2000, saw pupils and staff take to the catwalk to model a host of outfits and accessories.
Local companies and national firms, including Warehouse and Quiz, donated the items to be flaunted down the catwalk in a bid to raise both funds and awareness for the charity.
There was also music from the school’s very own budding musicians organised by the music department.
Local businesses had stalls filled with their goodies at the front entrance to sell to attendees and staff in the English department created a programme in coordination with local company Inkspot which showcased advertisements from Lanarkshirebased companies. Raffle prizes and give-aways were also popular on the night.
Holy Cross High School teacher Emma Miller explained:“the event is organised in conjunction with local businesses and raises a lot of money for well-known charity Mary’s Meals who aim to provide chronically hungry children with one meal every school day, encouraging education that can lift them out of poverty in later life.
“Everyone involved in the show gave 100 per cent effort to the organisation and running of this wonderful event.
“We had pupils and staff chipping in to collect prizes, organise outfits, decorating and selling tickets and we thank everyone who helped, modelled, donated and supported this cause.
“The fashion show is the highlight of the school calendar year with everyone getting involved to raise money for a worthwhile charity.“
