Win tickets to watch Spielberg’s Giant step for children’s cinema

-

To celebrate the release of Disney’s hit film The BFG, this week we have teamed up with our friends at Vue Cinema, Hamilton, to offer another lucky reader a family pass for the movie.

Sophie is an imaginative little girl living in an orphanage in London; every night, she stays up past the witching hour waiting for something magical to happen. But nothing ever does. That is, until she hears noises in the darkness…

A ruckus in the alleyway, a massive hand reaching towards her, the adventure begins...

The BFG takes Sophie to Giant Country, where she learns that not everything is what it seems, and not all ‘monsters’ are scary.

After overcoming her initial fear, she gets to know the 24-foottall, big-eared man and finds out that, unlike the other, childeating giants, he is a vegetarian who makes it his mission to bring good dreams to the children of the world.

As the two feast on snozzcumber and frobscottle, their friendship grows. But little girls aren’t typical residents of Giant Country, and the other giants begin to stir up even more trouble than usual.

Sophie and the BFG decide to solve the giant problem once and for all, but they’ll need help from someone special…

In this Disney take on Roald Dahl’s classic children’s novel, superstar director Steven Spielberg (Schindler’s List) teams up with renowned stage actor Mark Rylance, who voices the BFG. The supporting cast includes fresh face Ruby Barnhill as Sophie, and comedy talent in the form of Bill Hader (Saturday Night Live) and Jemaine Clement (Flight of the Conchords) as the bully giants.

All you have to do to be in with a chance of winning is answer this simple question: Who wrote the novel The BFG?

Send your entry, with your name, address, and daytime telephone number to Vue Cinema competition, Hamilton Advertiser, Press Buildings, Campbell Street, Hamilton, ML3 6AX. The deadline for entries is noon on Monday, August 1.
