Christmas Toy Appeal will be bigger and better
The Advertiser’s annual Christmas Toy Appeal this year needs your help even more!
Together with Larkhall and District Volunteer Group we’ve been working hard all year to make sure it is bigger and better than ever before ....
We’ve already made some major changes to the rules - with the appeal set to kick off even earlier this year, in mid-october as opposed to mid-november, to ensure we meet our target for disadvantaged children across Lanarkshire.
But the biggest change to the rules this year is that we’re now asking for BRAND NEW toys and gifts, or gift vouchers, ONLY to keep in line with health guidelines.
But we’re also looking for help with the distribution of the gifts this year, following the closure of our other Toy Appeal partners Hamilton Furniture Initiative.
We’re appealing for help from any local business, group or organisation who may be able to spare some staff/volunteers a few days prior to Christmas to help get the bags of gifts to the needy families across the county.
This will ensure those who really need help this Christmas will receive some presents for their children to wake up to come December 25.
Advertiser Toy Appeal coordinator Leona Greenan said: “We’ve experienced some changes with the running of the appeal this year but we’re determined to make it the huge success it is each year once again.
“It would be lovely if a local group or company would be able to step in and help with the distribution of the toys and gifts a few weeks prior to Christmas. Even if you can help a few hours a week we’d be extremely grateful.”
