Psychic investigators find spirits at the Applebank Inn
And it wasn’t a couple of nips of whisky

Larkhall’s Applebank Inn has long been associated with spirits of a very different kind – and now a team of paranormal experts aim to prove once and for all if the popular bar is indeed haunted.
Legend has it that the Millheugh bar is frequently visited by a ghost known as the Black Lady of Larkhall.
The woman – Sita Phurdeen – is said to have accompanied Captain Mcneil, owner of the former Broomhill House, back to the local area as his ‘princess bride’ after a visit to India around 1902.
As the story goes, Sita had difficulty settling in Britain and she was banished away to an area of the house, which once sat in the area behind the inn, out of sight.
She reportedly disappeared altogether two years later.
The ghostly figure spotted by locals and visitors to the area over the years is said to be that of Sita, who is connected to the Applebank by a large stone lintel which was recovered from the ruins of Broomhill House and embedded into the wall at the bar.
A group of investigators visited the inn recently as part of filming for a Project Paranormal series to be aired on TV later this year.
Hamilton man and paranormal investigator David Barrett was joined at the bar by demonologist Ian Ainsley, medium

Charlene Lowe Kemp and sceptic Lee Steer for an investigation.
Armed with a range of recording equipment and various devices, the team set to work after last orders and were in no doubt a spirit was present.
David said: “We felt the investigation went really well, it was extremely spiritually active.
“We received lots of intelligent responses on the Echovox and Franks box, and also infra-sound recorder.
“We also had other equipment activated, such as heat sensors activating, rempods going off – these are affected by electromagnetic fields – and other equipment were activating. “It was a great investigation. We have filmed the investigation and are currently editing it into an episode to be used for our series.”
The Applebank episode is part of a series the dedicated foursome have been working on together, and will be appearing on the Showcase TV channel – available on Sky and Freeview – later this year.
David added: “We fund everything ourselves and edit and produce our videos ourselves.
“We aim to do one episode a month to keep costs down as it is expensive. We have chosen to do it this way so that we have full control over what we do – there are too many shows out there that fake evidence.
“We hope the Applebank episode will air in the middle of October.
“Our next episode is going to be filmed at Shrieves House at Stratford Upon Avon. We are also going to at the Perth Paranormal Festival, from September 7 to 9.”
