Football treat you can’t miss
Meet Pele in Glasgow
Footballing legend Pele is not taking sides when it comes to the Old Firm ahead of his visit to Scotland this month.
The Brazilian legend is pictured with Rangers and Celtic tops which he signed and will be auctioned off to help make dreams come true for Lanarkshire kids with life-limiting illnesses
The tops will be part of many auctions taking place at a sportman’s dinner at Glasgow’s Crowne Plaza on Friday, September 16.
Earlier this year the Advertiser revealed the Brazilian superstar was heading the bill thanks to the efforts of Bothwell boxing promoter Francis Gilluley.
And when the 75-yearold, three-time World Cup winner appears at the glamorous event, some of the proceeds will be donated to the Les Hoey MBE Dream Maker Foundation.
Pele will relive his football career and share his memories from 1966, when he played against Scotland at Hampden ahead of the World Cup in England.
Frank reckons it will be a knockout night.
He said: “We have started working with a number of football agents and, through a lot of hard work, we have been able to secure Pele, which is just brilliant.
“At Fighting Scots Gym and the European Boxing Federation we want as many people to meet as many sporting heroes as possible.”
Frank also organised a sportsman’s dinner with former Rangers star Paul Gascoigne in Motherwell last year.
But for football fans it does not get better than Pele.
Pele is said to be back to his best, three weeks after pulling out of the Olympic Games opening ceremony due to ill health.
The star had been expected to light the Olympic cauldron to signal the start of the 2016 games but was forced to cancel on the day of the event as he was still recovering from a hip replacement operation.
The Advertiser has teamed up with the organisers of the sportsman’s dinner to bring you a fantastic opportunity to score a pair of meet-and-greet tickets.
For you chance to win simply fill out the coupon and return it to us by noon on Monday, September 5.
Good luck!
