Mcghee: Taking apoint wasfair
Motherwell .. 0 Dundee ........ 0
Graham Barnstaple Motherwell manager Mark Mcghee reckoned Saturday’s draw with Dundee was a fair result – and admitted he was happy with the way his side played as they halted a run of three straight defeats.
Motherwell dominated the first half but all they had to show for their efforts in the first 20 minutes were a couple of wild longrange efforts from Lionel Ainsworth and Marvin Johnson.
Dundee came into the game and Faissal El Bakhtaoui saw a shot punched out by Craig Samson and his rebound effort was cleared by Ben Heneghan.
The visitors were better organised in the second half but Motherwell created the best chance of the half when Scott Mcdonald saw a 20-yard shot well saved by Scott Bain, with Johnson’s rebound effort well blocked.
Mcghee said: “We had plenty of opportunities to create chances but we didn’t really carve out any clear-cut openings.
“I can’t sit here and say that we missed a series of sitters.
“I would’ve liked to win the game, of course, and I think we could have but I can’t can we should have.
“Dundee had 25 to 30 minutes in the second half when they dominated possession and could have won it but, over the piece, I think 0-0 was about right.
“Personally, I’m not dissatisfied.
“It was important not to lose going into the international break and it was important not to lose again at home. “The clean sheet was good and some of the play was good.”
James Mcfadden replaced Ainsworth in 80 minutes but couldn’t find a way to goal and they settled for a point.
