Award-winning writer and speaker Martin Stepek is to present a talk at three South Lanarkshire venues as part of the 2016 Scottish Mental Health Arts and Film Festival.
The national festival has the theme of ‘Time’ and will take place across Scotland from October 10 to 31.
One of the world’s largest social justice festivals, it aims to challenge preconceived ideas about mental health as well as supporting the arts.
During the festival, Martin Stepek will present ‘Time as a Mirage: Living for Today While Planning for Tomorrow’ at three libraries in South Lanarkshire.
He will visit Lanark Library on Tuesday, October 11, at 2-3pm; Larkhall Library on Wednesday, October 12, at 12.30-1.30pm; and Fairhill Lifestyles on Saturday, October 15, at 2-3pm.
Gerry Campbell, general manager of South Lanarkshire Leisure and Culture, said: “Raising awareness about the reality of mental health issues is something that is important to everyone, while supporting the arts is obviously dear to us as an organisation, so I am delighted that Martin is able to present his talk at three of our libraries as part of the Scottish Mental Health Arts and Film Festival.
“Martin is a prominent voice on mental health issues and he is without fail fascinating and entertaining to listen to, so I am very much looking forward to his presentations.”
