Safely does it

School teams up with construction firm

-

Youngsters from St Elizabeth’s Primary have built on their knowledge about safety with some help from Taylor Wimpey.

The construction firm teamed up with the school to hand over some health and safety reminders as production of their new homes at Annsfield Farm on the outskirts of town gets into full swing.

With lots of construction activity, Taylor Wimpey are keen to promote the dangers associated with playing near any construction site, and take the opportunity to raise awareness of children’s need to be extra-vigilant as the building of the new homes progresses.

Christine Emmett is assistant deputy head teacher at St Elizabeth’s and said: “I was delighted to welcome Taylor Wimpey into our school to highlight the dangers associated with children playing near any construction site and for the team to reinforce their safety message ahead of the October school holidays when many of our pupils will be enjoying their break from the classroom.

“It’s great that Taylor Wimpey understands the importance of our children’s safety, and has created such an interactive and proactive approach to appeal to our pupils.”

Being proactive with schools has proven an effective deterrent in the past as Brian Henderson, production director for Taylor Wimpey West Scotland explains: “Health and safety in and around our construction areas is of vital importance to Taylor Wimpey, and taking this type of proactive approach with local schools allows us to reinforce just how important it is for children to stay away from building sites, and it gives us the chance to remind the children that building sites are not playgrounds.”
