Fab fancy dress fun on sponsored walk
Blantyre Parish Church held their annual sponsored walk last week where they raised over £1700.
Many gathered in fancy dress to walk, have fun and raise a large amount of money for the church hall.
There were two routes available for those taking part - one lasting an hour and another shorter walk that lasted about 30 minutes, around the Blantyre area.
Adults and children were dressed in a variety of different costumes from Spider-man to Rab C Nesbitt.
Reverend Sarah Ross also dug out her fancy dress costume and amused her congregation by dressing up as Wonder Woman.
The sun was shining on the day, everyone was singing and the banter was on top form.
The kids even managed to take part in a spot of Pokémon hunting and everyone enjoyed indulging in a scotch pie after the walk.
The prizes for the best dressed were then given out and last year’s fancy dress winner Helen Gallacher triumphed again as she came dressed as Beetlejuice and scooped the first prize. Ross Stirling and his son Harris also picked up a prize for best dressed as Spiderman and Captain America.
Church spokesman Billy Gallacher said that he was delighted at the turnout and amount raised.
He said: “We have raised over £1700 so far and are still waiting for some sponsor forms to be gathered in but on behalf of the church I would like to say a huge thank you to all the children and adults who participated.
“Also a special thanks to Reverend Sarah Ross for providing prizes for all the fancy dress winners and also our local butcher D & J Rodger, in High Blantyre, who kindly donated the Scotch pies, they were a big hit.”
