Drug man could have cash seized
A Hamilton man involved in producing cannabis at his home in the town made almost £12,000 from the enterprise.
Ryan Burns, of Swisscot Avenue, had also been found with a crossbow in a residential area of the town on February 28 last year.
The 23-year-old had admitted a charge of producing the class-b drug at his Swisscot Avenue home between December 2015 and February 2016 – along with charges of having the offensive weapon in Stewart Avenue on February 28, and possessing cannabis at his home on that date.
The 23-year-old’s not guilty plea to charges of being concerned in the supply of the drug between November 11 last year and February 28 this year and possessing amphetamine at his home on February 28 were accepted by the Crown.
A joint minute of agreed evidence stated that Burns had benefited from £11,845 as a result of his criminal conduct. However, the available amount of this sum was £2645.
At Hamilton Sheriff Court, Sheriff Alasdair Macfadyen deferred sentence on Burns until November 2 for a criminal justice social work report and restriction of liberty order assessment.
Sheriff Macfadyen also made a confiscation order for £2645 to be lodged with the Police Service of Scotland production keeper within six months.
Bail was continued meantime.
