Awards for Grammar’s leading achievers
Hamilton Grammar School’s annual prizegiving ceremony took place recently with almost 500 young people, parents, staff and friends of the school in attendance.
The event celebrated the outstanding successes that young people made in session 2015/2016 in academic attainment and wider achievement.
Head teacher Graeme Sives provided the customary review of the year and, in his address to students, touched on the work of American scholar, Dr Art Costa and his Habits of Mind theory, as a parallel to the characteristics demonstrated by successful students.
He said: “An engaging and inclusive evening was deftly compered by Bill Heeps, depute at the school, who gave grateful thanks to the many dignitaries who supported the event including Angela Crawley MP, Christina Mckelvie MSP and Tony Mcdaid, head of education for the Hamilton area at South Lanarkshire Council.
Also in attendance were representatives from partner primary schools, donors of special awards, school staff and friends of the school over the years.
Well done to everyone.
