-

Greenock ..... 1

Larkhall Thistle beat Greenock 2-1 to clock up their fifth win and claim third spot in the Central First Division, three points off the top two.

Matty Clarke gave Thistle a half-time lead following good work by Davie Reid and Graham Gracie, but William Mcclure equalised early in the second half.

Thistle quickly regained their grip on the game and a Stuart Thomson clearance was flicked on by Reid for Gracie to lob it over the keeper’s head for a brilliant winner.

Manager Duncan Sinclair said:“we played really well and I was a bit disappointed not to win more convincingly.

“We had several good chances but Graham Gracie hit a spectacular effort for the winner three minutes from time.”

Bellshill Athletic drew 4-4 away to Benburb.

Lee Nichol fired them in front, then when Bens had scored twice, Richie Kane and Declan Brown gave Athletic a 3-2 half-time lead.

Bens hit another double, but Nichol scored again to secure a point.

Lanark Thistle ......

Manager Robert Sneddon said:“we started off well, and came out on top in the second half by winning more possession.”

Super First Division side Blantyre Vics lost 4-2 at home to Petershill, with manager John Gibson saying:“it was a hard game, closer than the score suggests.

“We started the second half quite well and equalised when Stephen Higgins set up a chance for Jordan O’donnell to net.”

Two goals were then conceded, in a 10-minute spell, but five minutes later Craig Kerr set up a chance for Jordan O’donnell to score to make it 4-2.

Forthwanderers recorded their second Central First Division win beating Johnstone Burgh 3-2. Burgh scored first, then Martin Hannaway headed an equaliser.

The visitors quickly made it 2-1, then Willie Mclaren set up John Watson to make it 2-2 – a Mclaren free kick was headed in by Craig Gutwell for the winner.

Manager Jamie Mckenzie said:“it was very competitive, things are going well.”
