Thieves ransack home of woman who was visiting her terminally-ill husband
Despicable thieves broke into a house in Hamilton this week while the owner sat by her terminally ill husband’s bedside in a Lanarkshire hospice.
Distraught Rachel Lee returned to her home in Auchin camp bell Road yesterday (Wednesday) morning, after spending the night with her sick husband to find it had been ransacked.
Rachel (right) stayed overnight at St Andrew’s Hospice in Airdrie because she wanted to wake up alongside her husband on the morning of her 61st birthday. However when she returned home at around 9am, she found her home had been broken into and was a complete “disaster”. Rachel said: “I
really can’t believe what’s happened, I am just so angry.
“I know that a lot of my jewellery has been taken, including a ring which has a lot of sentimental value to me.
“My husband gave me the sapphire diamond ring as a gift and now it is gone.
“This was really precious to me.”
Rachel’s son Stuart has been devastated by the incident but holds out hope that someone might have information about who done this.
Stuart Lee said: “The family have been really shaken by this. We just think it is really unfair and unjust, and are appalled that this has happened.
“We just hope that someone out there knows who has done this. With all this going on in our lives right now, it is horrendous.”
Inspector Scott Mccarren of Hamilton Police said: “We can confirm we attended at a house in Auchin campbell Road today (Wednesday) following a break-in between Monday, November 7, at 1.30pm and Wednesday, November 9, at 10am.
“We are currently investigating the incident and would appeal to anyone who may have any further information on this to contact ourselves on Police 101.”
