Green light for 14 new homes
The green light has been given for 14 new homes to be built in Strathaven.
Detailed planning permission was granted at a meeting of South Lanarkshire Council’s planning committee for the new builds on the site of the former Westfield Farm on Glasgow Road, west of the A726 Strathaven to East Kilbride road .
The report to councillors stated the site previously consisted of a number of interlinked traditional buildings and more recent outbuildings which have now been demolished, with the exception of one boundary wall.
It went on to say the condition of the buildings had deteriorated over recent years since becoming empty.
A previous consent for the erection of four dwelling houses on the site established the principle of development at this location. Thereafter, a further application received detailed consent for the erection of ten dwellings.
The latest application from Apsis Homes (Avondale) Ltd is an amendment to the most recent consent and is for the 14 houses and associated access road and landscaping.
Eight of the 14 homes will be semidetached and no objections were received to the plans.
Council officers stated in their recommendation for approval that the site could adequately cope with the development. The report added that access to all plots will be taken off the main access road – with a roundel to allow for turning of refuse vehicles.
