Girls showcase their gym skills

Hamilton Gymnastics Club will ‘step into the future’ as their 1200 members showcase their best skills over three sessions during their annual display at Hamilton College on November 11 and 12.

The Step Into the Future theme will explore the children’s hopes, dreams and ambitions as the club aims to raise close to £20,000 towards a state-of-the-art facility in the town.

Coach Wendy Lucas said: “it’s great to have all our gymnasts and coaches coming together to showcase all they have learned over the year.

“We promote Gymnastics For All and hope this fantastic big event will help raise lots of funds to help us build our new facility, which will serve future generation­s of Hamilton gymnasts.”

The future stars of the club’s Women’s Artistic section added more titles to the collection recently was they became Level 6 Scottish Team champions at the Bell’s Sports Centre in Perth.

The girls, aged 8-11, managed a team score almost three points ahead of those in second place. Macy Boslem, Katie Coull, Beth Fallow, Erin Devine, Victoria Allen and Anna Smitt defeated 36 teams from across the country.

Ruth Gibson, Hamilton Gymnastics Club’s head coach, said: “our artistic section has now become the force to be reckoned with in Scotland.

“Continued success across all levels is a result of all our hard working gymnasts and dedicated coaches training so well together in a happy and friendly environmen­t.”
