Helping to drive home winter alert

-

Constable Bernard Higgins said: “Between December last year and January 2016, 452 drivers failed a breath test. It’s really disappointing that so many people were prepared to cause danger to others as well as themselves. We are urging people to plan ahead during the party season. Think about how you’re going to get home - before you head out – and don’t forget about any journeys you’ll make the morning after. The consequences of drink driving can be devastating, so the best advice if you are planning to drink this Christmas is don’t risk it, don’t drink and drive.”

Sadly although this message gets repeated yearly not everyone takes heed and already a 30-year-old man has been reported for an alleged contravention of drink driving laws. About 9pm on Thursday, December 2, he was allegedly found in Broomhill Drive, Larkhall in charge of a vehicle whilst over the prescribed limit.

Moving away from driving enforcement, I’m looking for your assistance to identify those responsible for a number of vandalism incidents in the Blantyre area. Between 2am and 4am on December 4. A total of 17 vehicles had their tyres slashed in Millgheugh Place, Larkfield Drive, and Maxwell Crescent, Blantyre.

Two youths described as wearing grey hoodies were in the area at the time and we are keen to speak to them. If you have any information which may help identify these persons please call Constable Renfrew at Hamilton Police office. If you have any information you feel should be reported or information on any of the crimes previously detailed contact the police on 101.
