MSP Monica touts benefits of ‘shopping small’

-

Hamilton councillor and Central Scotland MSP Monica Lennon backed town traders as part of Small Business Saturday.

The event on Saturday, December 3, encouraged residents in Hamilton and across the country to “shop small”and support the contribution of entrepreneurs and small firms.

Ms Lennon, who is also a board member of Hamilton Business Improvement District (BID), said: “I thoroughly enjoyed getting my Christmas shopping under way in Hamilton and making a special effort to back our local small shops and independent businesses on Small Business Saturday.

“We should do all we can to thank them for the vital contribution they make to the local economy, adding to the local community and boosting diversity on the high street.

“Hamilton has much to offer in the way of thriving local businesses, and it was great to be able to make a start to my Christmas shopping thanks to picking up some gifts at Elspeth Hamilton Perfumery, and a visit to Ink Spot resulted in my daughter adding a few games to her Santa list.

“Our shopping trip was topped off with delicious cake and coffee at Coopers Coffee on Lamb Street.

“Hamilton BID has achieved some fantastic work locally over the past few years, and Small Business Saturday is another great way of promoting the town and helping boost trade.”
