Festive fun to defy vandals

- Kirsten Mcstay

St Ninian’s Primary School got into the festive spirit despite their classrooms being damaged by vandals earlier this year.

They went ahead with their event despite talks over cancelling it.

Head teacher Margaret Anne Kennedy thanked everyone who helped organise the school’s first Christmas fair, and everyone who came along to support it.

She said: “The fair was a resounding success with such a wonderful festive atmosphere in the school all day. The staff, children parents and carers came together and put on a fabulous event which raised more than £1000.”

The money raised from the fair will be used to treat the children to a day out.

Mrs Kennedy said: “This money will enable all the children to see a pantomime later this month and the remainder will be a super boost to our school funds.

“It has been great for morale as we recover from a horrible break-in and showed what a great community spirit there is at St Ninian’s.

“Thanks to all who made success.”

Parent council Chair, Fiona Maguire, added: “We are thrilled with how well supported the fair was and thoroughly delighted with the amount raised.

“While it was important to it a raise funds, the emphasis was on making it special for the children so there were lots of things to buy and do for just 20p.

“That was a great decision when we saw the smiles on their faces as they all took part. And the panto will be another treat, so thanks to everyone who supported the fair.”
