Readers will always remember that big whiteout of December
There was a flurry of activity this week on the Hamilton Advertiser’s website after we took our readers on a trip down memory lane.
On Monday, December 6, 2010, the entire county was shrouded in a blanket of the white stuff following a massive snowfall.
The snowstorm and freezing temperatures brought Lanarkshire to a standstill.
We reminded our readers of that day, and an avalanche of comments followed on our social media pages.
The story was shared 9500 times on Facebook and there was a blizzard of comments from readers who all had a story to tell from‘snowpocalyse 2010’.
Lisa Lawson posted:“I went into labour and had to go up to Wishaw General in an army truck!”
Fiona Corbett said:“nine hours on the M8 with Christine Rodie that day — she was a hero getting us home. I’ll never forget that day.”
Sonja Devlin posted:“ah yes, getting snowed in at work and having to walk back from Motherwell town centre to Hamilton centre is not something you can easily forget.”
