This was followed with success in various categories and pupils lifting 18 fourth places, 16 fifths, 11 sixth places and 10 seventh places in a competition which attracted competitors from as far away as Norway and showcased a very high standard of dancing.

The children train four times a week in classes including: freestyle, gymnastics, ballet, commercial and musical theatre.

Dance Central pupils come from all over to attend the many and varied classes on offer at the school. Dance Central’s artistic director Elaine Wedlock is overwhelmed by the achievements of all pupils this year.

She said:“I am so proud of the dedication and loyalty shown by all my pupils and parents.

“I go through a training process with the kids. They come to the studio sometimes shy and lacking in confidence and to watch the transformation and to see their happy, proud faces as they stand on the winners podiums to collect championship titles makes me so, so happy and they are memories that I will cherish forever.

“The school’s motto is ‘Workers are Winners’and our pupils sure proved that when all their hard work, insane training, and dedication paid off in Scarborough.”
