Dear Editor, On behalf of the members at Hamilton South Parish Church I would like to thank Shirley Bartynek and all your employees for their work in printing our church news every week.

We are extremely grateful to have this opportunity of keeping in touch with the community at no cost to ourselves and appreciate their help in doing so, even when sometimes our news is late in getting to you.

They pull out all the stops to get our news into print and never deem anything a problem and are an important part of what community is all about. Christmas blessings to you all and good health in 2017.

Liz Baird, Elder, Hamilton South Parish Church Dear Editor, On behalf of Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland may I take this opportunity to send sincere thanks to all of the many volunteers and supporters in Lanarkshire who have contributed to the work of our charity in 2016?

Chest, heart and stroke illness can affect anyone.

Thanks to advances in treatment, and changes in lifestyle, many more people survive heart attacks and strokes than ever before - a real success story for Scotland’s health.

However, this means that many more people, and their families, are living with the long-term impact of these conditions.

Right now one in every ten people in Scotland is living with chest, heart or stroke illness.

CHSS is the only charity providing services throughout Scotland for people affected by chest, heart and stroke illness.

During 2016 we were able to help more than 18,000 people through our advice line and patient information, support groups, financial grants, and our wide range of local services, which we provide in communities throughout Lanarkshire.

None of this would be possible without the invaluable contribution of our volunteers, who in the central west of Scotland deliver over 31,000 hours with an economic contribution of over £327,500.

Their work is absolutely vital in our local support services, charity shops and other activities.

We very much appreciate the commitment, enthusiasm and care they bring to the charity and to their local community.
