Tackling domestic abuse is a key priority
The festive period represents one of the most significant times of the year for an increase in reports of domestic abuse.
Tackling domestic abuse is a key focus for us and we remain resolute to pro-actively target those responsible with every means at our disposal.
We are committed to providing a robust response and where we find evidence of crime, we will act consistently and decisively, placing the needs of the victim at the heart of what we do.
Domestic abuse can take many forms and while most people are aware of the physical violence that is often carried out by abusers, there can also be mental and emotional abuse taking place behind closed doors. It can be manipulative, aimed at destroying the victim’s confidence and control their actions through fear of violent reprisal.
Our message to domestic abusers is stop, think of the consequences, and think again.
There is support out there, please use it.
But understand this, if you are an abuser, we will come looking for you.
Our Hamilton Town Centre festive plans have been running for a couple of weeks now and I am pleased to say that the vast majority of people have socialised in the right manner and local officers have been enjoying interacting with the increased numbers in the town.
We have previously used this article to highlight that we have had a number of ‘bag dips’ within Hamilton Town Centre.
I am aware that this crime has also recently occurred within other local town centres in Lanarkshire.
I would again appeal for everyone to be vigilant in relation to this matter. Although it can happen anywhere a common location is within shops where it is natural for people to be standing close together.
We are looking for information in relation to a theft by housebreaking at Aqua Avenue, Earnock, which took place between 5pm and 7.30pm on Thursday, December 8.
Cash and jewellery were amongst the items stolen.
If you have any information you feel should be reported please contact the police using 101, or via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
