Charge of aggressive driving is denied
An Uddingston motorist is alleged to have driven in an aggressive manner within a line of stationary traffic.
Mohammed Nadeem Sarwar, of Bothwell Road, is said to have pulled out into the opposite carriageway of Thorn Road, Bellshill, last Friday, December 16, while driving a Lexis IS200 and edged forward.
The 29-year-old is further alleged to have sounded the horn and shouted at other road users.
He denied a charge of driving without due care and attention, or without reasonable consideration of other road users at Hamilton Sheriff Court on Monday.
Sarwar further pleaded not guilty to behaving in a threatening and abusive manner at Thorn Road on the same date by shouting and swearing and acting in an aggressive manner – and a charge of threatening and abusive behaviour within the rear of a marked police car.
He is alleged to have shouted, swore and uttered offensive remarks relating to the sexual orientation of two police officers within the rear of the marked police car on Thorn Road on December 16 and various other roads en route to Motherwell Police Office.
Sarwar also denied a charge of acting in a raciallyaggravated manner intended to cause alarm and distress to a police officer by making offensive and racially abusive comments towards him.
Sheriff Allan Mckay set Sarwar’s trial for April 4 with an intermediate diet of March 9. Bail was granted meantime.
