Two men seriously assaulted

Police probe Birkenshaw attacks

Two men have been left permanentl­y scarred as a result of attacks in Uddingston at the weekend.

Detectives are conducting enquiries after the assaults in the Birkenshaw area on Friday, December 16.

The men, aged 16 and 17, were in Second Avenue around 11.50pm when they became involved in an altercatio­n with another man who seriously assaulted them.

The victims suffered stab wounds and were taken to Monklands Hospital.

The 17-year-old was released following treatment, but the 16-year-old remains in hospital where medical staff describe his condition as stable.

The suspect is described as white, aged between 30 and 40, around 5ft 10ins in height, of medium build, and gaunt appearance.

He was wearing dark clothing and had his hood up at the time. He got into a silver coloured car after the attacks and drove off in the direction of Old Edinburgh Road, Viewpark.

Officers have been carrying out doorto-door enquiries and are gathering any available CCTV footage for review.

Detective Christophe­r Smith said: “The motive for this attack is unknown and two young men will be left permanentl­y scarred as a result of these assaults. I am appealing to anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident and who may have seen or heard the altercatio­n to contact us.

“Perhaps someone saw the vehicle when it was driving off. If anyone has any informatio­n or knowledge of the incident or the suspect, I would ask them to please do get in touch.”
