Here’s the light way to celebrate 7000-strongdisplay took three weeks to put up

A Hillhouse family have spent three weeks preparing the outside of their house for Christmas with over 7000 LED lights.

The Kanes have taken things to the next level and wowed passers-by with their extravagant display of festive lights and lasers.

James Kane, who stays with his mum Jean, dad David and ten year-old sister Heather, wanted to continue the family tradition of decorating the outside of their house but this year decided to make it bigger and better than ever.

The Kanes, who stay in Wellcroft Road in Hillhouse, have just recently invested in a Christmas laser which projects festive objects all over their home.

James (16) told the Advertiser that the colourful display took over three weeks to perfect.

He said: “We have been buying quite a lot of new decorations and lights for the house over the last few weeks.

“It is a tradition in our family, but this year we have got so much more.

“It’s funny seeing people drive past just to look at our house. They all looked shocked at how much lights we have.”

The Coatbridge College student said that they have accumulated so many lights and decorations over the years that they don’t know exactly how many they have.

He said: “We have roughly 7000 LED lights.

“There are so many we have lost count. We don’t know what our electricity bill is, we will worry about that later.”
