Gift ideas at centre

-

Hamilton’s animal rescue centre are urging people to buy their pets’ Christmas gifts from the shop.

The Scottish SPCA on Bothwell Road are hoping to raise additional funds for the thousands of animals they rescue and rehome every year.

So far, the centre has cared for over 2400 injured and unwanted animals this year and all the money spent at the shop stays within the centre.

All the funds raised will help animals like Miss Libby (pictured), who was found as a stray months ago.

Centre manager Peter Fleming said: “We have a variety of different items you can get at our centre. These include cat and small animal carriers, litter trays, collars and leads, dog and cat toys and bowls. We also have handmade jewellery which would make great stocking fillers.

“If you don’t have a pet you can still help the society by sponsoring a ‘space’ at the centre and help animals in our care.

“Sponsor a Space also makes a perfect Christmas gift that will last for a whole year by helping pay for the food and veterinary treatment of all the animals cared for in the space sponsored.

“Sponsors will have their name displayed at our centre and will receive a certificate of thanks, a window sticker and our magazine.

“They’ll also be sent an update letter about one of the animals their sponsorship has helped, along with a lovely photo.

“By supporting your local centre you can help animals like Miss Libby who was sadly found as a stray earlier this year. We never found out who owned Miss Libby, however our dedicated staff at the centre were able to give her the care and attention she deserves and she is now looking for a loving home.

“The Scottish SPCA receives no government or lottery funding and we rely on the kindness and generosity of locals to continue our work rescuing and rehoming animals in Scotland each year. The additional funds from the sale of shop items and ‘space’ sponsorship are a great help to us at the centre.”

Anyone interested in visiting the Lanarkshire rescue centre shop can do so Monday to Sunday from 10am to 4pm at Bothwell Road, Hamilton. For more information on Sponsor a Space, call 03000 999 999 (option 4) or visit scottishspca.org/sponsor.
