New Years concert The Old Mill Theatre in Strathaven will be full of New Year’s Eve cheer at a Hogmanay folk concert. Doors open at 8pm, with the music running from 9pm to 1am. Tickets are available from The Crib, priced at £15. Camera club December has been a busy and successful month for the club. On December 1 the club won its GDPU image battle away at Dalry Camera Club by 325 points to 297. Strathaven’s Joyce Manson’s image ‘Derwent Water Sunset’ was also top image on the night. On December 8 the club members enjoyed a print presentati­on entitled ‘Britain North and South’ from Chris Bonnington, who is a member of Carluke Camera Club. His main passion is landscape but his portrait and other subjects are all excellent as well. The early season closed on December 16, when the members enjoyed their Christmas dinner at Strathaven Golf Club. The second half of the season starts on January 12, when the judging of the internal competitio­n for monochrome prints will take place. Club nights are on Thursdays at 7.30pm in the Rankin Church hall. W3ST A speakers’ dinner to raise funds for Whiteshawg­ate 3G Sports Trust (W3ST) has been confirmed for March 3 at Strathaven Hotel. Former SFA chief executive Gordon Smith and comedian Joe Camay have both agreed to speak at the event.
