Peter Pan panto proves a big hit with audience
Peter Pan at Motherwell Concert Hall has something for all ages.
Fillers and Motherwell Theatre present a wickedly funny show, with lots of fun, music and dancing along the way. Ian ‘Sheepie’ Smith, who plays Smee, has the audience in stitches with his one liners. His witty comedy and vocal impressions, which seem to be aimed to the adults in the audience, make the show a huge success. Garry Ellis is equally hilarious as Nanny Agnes Machaggis. The pair are a great double act and bounce off each other just the right amount.
The interaction with the audience keeps the children on the edge of their seats, with many desperate to join them on stage.
Even if that does include getting drenched with water guns and hit with sponges.
Peter Pan is played by Stewart Mccheyne and Stephanie Falls plays Wendy.
Jamie Bannerman plays villain Hook and encourages plenty of boo’s’ and ‘he’s behind you’ from the excited youngster’s.
The dancers are choreographed by Lisa Jayn Gordon and the song choices serve the plot well.
This year’s stage designs and special effects seem to have upgraded on last year’s production.
Provost Jim Robertson said,: “Each year our pantos get better and better and this is reflected in the recordbreaking audiences attending.
“The quality of the productions reflect the hard work and professionalism of the actors, stage-crew and directors I would encourage everyone to go along and enjoy some festive fun at this year’s pantomime.”
Motherwell Theatre box office staff are celebrating as the ticket sales for Peter Pan has smashed all previous years on record.
From when tickets went on sale until Monday, November 28, Peter Pan has sold or has reservations for 35,000 seats, which is up seven per cent on last year’s Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs and up 20 per cent on 2014’s Cinderella show.
Peter Pan runs right up until Sunday, January 8,but has already nearly become Motherwell Theatre’s most successful pantomime
