Figures show another side of policing

-

A housebreaking took place between 11.50am and 3.30pm on January 18 at Loancroft Gate, Uddingston, and on also on the same evening a white transit van was stolen from Burnside Place in Larkhall.

We have had a number of thefts of motor vehicles in the Blantyre area recently and we had a further one on January 20 when a Citroen DS3 was stolen.

On January 22, a 27-year-old female was charged with offences under the Misuse of Drugs Act after the search of a property at Fairholm Street, Larkhall.

I would like to finish off by commenting on an event I attended last Wednesday evening at Holy Cross High School in Hamilton.

It was an annual Holocaust memorial event and pupils from each of the South Lanarkshire high schools took part, as well as some primary schools being represented.

The evening involved readings, music and acting.

I was impressed by the extremely high standard of those who were performing.

Not only were they naturally talented but there would have clearly been huge amount of effort put in to rehearsals for the product to have been so good.

This resulted in the message of the event being delivered in a poignant manner.

It is often the case that youths are highlighted to us in a negative connotation due to incidents which have taken place, however this reaffirmed that this should never be the perception of our local young people.
