Walk and talk at inspirational Chatelherault
Chatelherault Country Park is hosting a scenic stroll that tells the story of the landscape that has inspired so many painters.
Artists like Alexander Fraser and Simon Bough are among those who captured the natural beauty of the Avon Valley.
And you can join a team of experts on Saturday, February 11, who will talk about the artwork inspired by the park’s Cadzow oaks.
The Clyde and Avon Valley Landscape Partnership (CAVLP) believe the area has fired the imagination of visitors throughout the ages.
People of all ages and backgrounds are invited to take part in a programme of exploratory walks throughout the Clyde and Avon Valley.
The events will be led by experienced archaeologists from CAVLP Heritage who will be on hand to offer expert insight into areas at Chatelherault, Lanark, the Falls of Clyde and Carluke.
All of the walks take place on upcoming Saturdays at 2pm, starting at Chatelherault on February 11.
The following Saturday, February 18, you can visit sites in Lanark.
Then on Saturday, March 11, a ramble will take place at New Lanark, looking at the art inspired by the World Heritage site and the Falls of Clyde.
And you can celebrate the strawberry-growing industry in Carluke on Saturday, March 18, and the long heritage of preserve making that continues to this day.
Karen Mccusker, CAVLP Heritage project assistant, said: “This is a great opportunity to get to know a little bit more about the people who have shaped the Clyde and Avon Valley that we know and love today, in a fun and unexpected way.”
Volunteers can also join CAVLP Heritage in researching ‘Local Landscape Heroes of the Clyde and Avon Valley’ in Hamilton Town House archive room every Thursday up to and including March 30, between 11am and 7pm.
